Bunia is situated near the equator, and gets an extraordinary amount of rainfall, more than 3 metres per year!

The HCLS high school is situated on 10 hectares of donated land in a small village on a hillside about 4 kilometres from the primary school, with the access track crossing a tributary of the Shari River.

A simple bridge allows walkers, bikes and motorbikes across, but it has now been washed away twice during flooding!

A proposed new permanent bridge has been designed by our construction teachers with help from local engineers, one that will be high enough and strong enough to stay put and keep access open for students, staff and the village communities beyond all year round!
